Heichal Baoranim is the Jewish congregation of Flagstaff, and is committed to meeting the wide range of religious needs of all who live in, visit, or vacation in the area.  Our Synagogue provides a warm, welcoming center for Jewish life in Northern Arizona.

   We are a small and diverse community.  Our members have been raised in and are drawn toward virtually all traditions of Jewish worship.  While many of us live in traditional Jewish homes and continue practices of the larger Jewish communities from which we came, many others are products of, or partners in, mixed marriages and relationships and have developed additional patterns of observance.  Affiliated with the Reform tradition, our bi-monthly services -- lay-led and Rabbinical -- are intentionally inclusive.  We are pleased that Rabbi Nina Perlmutter will be joining us on a permanent basis this year.  She will not only conduct our Shabbat Services, but the High Holidays as well.  We provide religious school instruction for the young, preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, adult education programs, support with life-cycle events, holiday observance, social gatherings, and a Jewish cemetery.

   Our congregants are our greatest resource.  We are proud of the intelligence, knowledge, and goodwill they bring to our community, services and programs.  Membership is open to all individual Jews and to families with at least one Jewish adult.  All individuals, whether members or not, are welcome to all Synagogue functions.

Tu b'Shevat Seder next Tuesday:  posted 02/03/2012 - Please join us to celebrate the birthday of the trees with a Tu b'Shevat seder and potluck dinner on Tuesday, February 7, at 6:00pm.  We'll have dinner at 6:00pm and begin the seder around 6:30pm.  Please bring a vegetarian/dairy dish to share.  We'll provide plenty of fruit and nuts for the seder.  If you've never experienced a Tu b'Shevat seder before, this is a great time to try it out.

Metropolitan Klezmer on February 8:  posted 01/30/2012 - Wednesday, February 8, 2012, Metropolitan Klezmer,, 7:30pm, Ashurst Hall.  Metropolitan Klezmer brings eclectic exuberance to Yiddish musical genres from all over the map.  Performing vibrant versions of lesser-known gems from wedding dance, trance, folk, swing, and tango styles, as well as soundtrack material from vintage Yiddish films, they re-invent tradition with both irreverence and respect.

Co-sponsored by the NAU College of Arts and Letters, and NAU Center for International Education.

Jewish News of Greater Phoenix:  posted 12/30/2011 - Rabbi Nina Perlmutter, who is a member of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Phoenix, signed on to the letter titled "Battle for the Jewish People's soul" that appears in today's edition of the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix.  The link to the letter is:  http://www.jewishaz.com/issues/story.mv?111230+battle .
